Residential facilities reduce costs 44%

Concern over steadily increasing costs

Oak Hill-The Connecticut Institute for the Blind is a provider of residential day care and educational services to multi-handicapped individuals. The organization is the largest private nonprofit community provider of services for people with disabilities in Connecticut.

Oak Hill was concerned about steadily increasing costs for medical supplies. It invited industry experts from Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA) to review its purchases and determine whether it would be possible to control escalating expenses.

The answer? A resounding “yes.” ERA ultimately saved the Oak Hill network a significant amount of money while improving quality and service.

Consultants used ERA’s proprietary suite of procurement tools to prepare and evaluate a thorough Request for Prices (RFP) based on the organization’s top products. The facilities decided to use a large, well established health care services company that combines volume sales and IT efficiencies to drive down costs.

ERA negotiated attractive long-term agreements for discounted pricing and capped increases.

“ERA Consultants identified terrific savings opportunities and worked closely with the staff at each of our facilities to ensure a smooth transition to new suppliers.” - James T. Jones, Vice President/Treasurer of Oak Hill
