Landmark Louisville hotelier welcomes $365,000 in hidden savings

Company founder helped redevelop downtown

The Al J. Schneider Company is Louisville’s largest owner- operator of hotels. Holdings include the Galt House Hotel, built in the 1970s by developer Al Schneider as part of Louisville's Riverfront Urban Renewal Project, and the upscale Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport.

Most guests pay for their accommodations and other hotel expenses with credit and debit cards. The Schneider Com- pany was concerned about rising processing fees and asked Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA) to review these costs.

Fewer fees and better services

ERA merchant card fee experts carefully reviewed the hotels’ processing activity, analyzing costs for interchange fees, dues and assessments, other card association fees, settlement fees, authorization fees and interchange surcharge statement fees. ERA’s analysis included the hotels and the Home Supply Company, also owned by the client.

ERA experts prepared a detailed RFP that included questions about service levels, enabling the client to evaluate bids based on a combination of price and service.

The new merchant card processor significantly reduced costs and greatly improved service in account and interchange management, and data reporting.

"The ERA team made this process close to enjoyable. Our company saved time and money using ERA Consultants." - Ron Strecker, CFO of Al J. Schneider Company
