29% savings in office supplies generates $126,000 for baubles, bangles & beads

Accessories chain to more than double in size

In partnership with an equity firm, Charming Charlie, a women's accessories specialty chain, planned to double in size over a year’s time. It was adding 60 stores throughout the East Coast and Midwest to its existing 36 retail stores in the South and Southeast. An expansion of this magnitude involves significant expenses for jewelry and accessories as well as for non-core G&A costs.

Consultants with Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA) may not be fashion mavens, but when it comes to reducing operating expenses, they are the experts. The client consulted ERA during the expansion process to find the best deals on the office supplies needed for the new and existing stores.

Experts fashion an attractive two-year contract

ERA Consultants used market knowledge, benchmark pricing and proprietary software tools to prepare and evaluate a detailed RFP. Through a combination of contract pricing and incentives, ERA office supplies experts negotiated an attractive two-year contract with the incumbent supplier.

“This reduction is even more remarkable given that it follows the savings our internal team found immediately prior to engaging ERA,” noted Charming Charlie’s CEO.

"ERA's results have been truly remarkable." - Charlie Chanaratsopon, CEO of Charming Charlie
