Community credit union reduces ATM maintenance and security costs 33%

Thorough analysis and sophisticated RFP process

The client is a community credit union in Massachusetts with 8,500 members and a main office and two branches.

Consultants with Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA) analyzed a year’s worth of transactions and contracts for the service and maintenance of alarms, video security and ATMs at the three sites. Among the findings: 40% of the credit union’s expenses were related to “out of scope” charges ─ charges for which the provider’s technicians received commissions.

ERA’s capabilities include a thorough RFP process using a proprietary suite of advanced procurement tools that weigh all the factors important to clients (favorable terms, service and other features), not just price.

For example, the credit union’s RFP included questions about response time, percentage of service calls fixed on the first visit and preventive maintenance schedule.

Implementation and Beyond

When the credit union selected a new provider, ERA Consultants continued to work with the client to perform reference checks, execute contracts and determine an implementation schedule.

ERA Consultants will continue to monitor the project for two years to help insure its success.

ERA experts find savings in common G&A costs as well as unique, industry-specific expenses.
